xp-AntiSpy 3.95-2

The xp-AntiSpy version 3.95-2 is available for download. It fixes mainly the ability to modify the connection limit wich was not working since the last Windows Update from 2/16/2006.
Thanks to all of you who sent in their tcpip.sys file. That accelerated the whole thing in getting the new version done.

Verbindungslimit

As of the windows update from yesterday, patching the connection limit isn’t possible anymore. And since i’m back from a business trip at the end of the week, you can expect a updated version of the xp-antispy at that time.
To speed up the solution, i kindly ask you to send me your tcpip.sys file which you’ll find usually in c:windowssystem32driverstcpip.sys (Send it to contact at xp-antispy.org with the subject ‘tcpip.sys’). But send me the file only if the actual xp-AntiSpy version does not recognize your version of the tcpip.sys file. You can determine it if the connection limit isn’t adjustable anymore.
Thanks in advance. Best regards, -chris-

xp-AntiSpy 3.95-1

Version 3.95-1 is available for download.
Improvements where made to the accessibility. A red exclamation mark is shown on the title of a group of settings if a setting does not match the profile settings. So it’s easier to get a big picture of the state of all settings.

Sorry for putting the english translation up so late. I had problems with this website’s content management system.

Stop dem Gästebuch SPAM

Recently my guestbook got spammed by some automated scripts.
To prevent that the old guestbook script was modified to ask the
visitor for a 5-digit number he/she should type in to verify a real
human sits behind the keyboard.
Now you can write your guestbook entries without having to read some rubbish texts.
And i can enjoy reading ‘real’ entries, which are very welcome !!

Thanks to dominik who modified the old guestbook script and made his changes publicly available.

Trojaner in xp-AntiSpy?

Once in a while i get mails from users of the xp-AntiSpy, who concern
about their virus scanning application detecting a trojan horse in the
file uninstall.exe.
This is not a virus nor a trojan horse, nor any other bad file.
To build the installation file for the xp-AntiSpy i use NSIS.
This is a free and open source installation scripting framework which
is used by many other projects to present a handy tool for installation
and uninstallation of the main program.
The file uninstall.exe is a part of the NSIS framework and contains no malware!
Mostly this false detection of a trojan horse is due to out dated virus scanners.
So please, not only for minimizing false detections, keep your virus scanner up to date!
For those of you, lacking a virus scanner, maybe because it’s payware, i suggest you to use AntiVir. A free copy at no cost can be downloaded for personal use.
